The price, up front

Flat. By complexity. Never a cut of the estate.

Most people have no idea what settling an estate costs. It is commonly 3–8% of the estate, and you usually find out afterwards. Our fee is on this page, it is priced by how complicated the work is, and it does not move if the house appraises higher than you thought.

We are not taking cases yet. Arizona and North Carolina are first. We will not open in a state until a lawyer licensed there has reviewed a complete filing packet we produced, because the alternative is finding out we were wrong using somebody’s actual estate. Ask us to write when that changes.

First Days

Free

Whether this estate needs probate at all, what the deadlines are, and eight certified death certificates ordered.

Core

$1,500

Non-probate transfers and small-estate administration. Every institution handled. No court appearance.

Complete

$4,500 – $8,500

Full probate. Petition, Letters, creditors, inventory, tax filings, distribution, closing. Attorney of record included. Which band you are in is decided up front and disclosed before you pay.

Fiduciary

From $12,000

Their Matters serves as agent for the executor, or as co-fiduciary. We hold the pen. Available in some states only.

No percentage of the estate. No hourly billing. No surprise invoice. If we quote you a band and the estate turns out to be more complicated than we thought, that is our mistake to absorb, not yours to pay for.

How Complete is banded

You are told the band before you pay. The band is a count of accounts, properties, and a short list of complications — not a judgment about the family.

Band 1 · $4,500

Up to eight accounts, one piece of real property, no business interest, no second state, no federal estate tax return.

Band 2 · $6,500

Up to twenty accounts, up to two properties, or one of: a second-state filing, a federal estate tax return, a small business interest.

Band 3 · $8,500

Beyond Band 2, or no will with more than four heirs. If heirs are already in a dispute, we do not take the case — we send you to a litigator.

Court filing fees, certified copies, and postage are billed to the estate at cost and itemized. They are not hidden inside the flat fee, and they are not marked up.
